Hardcastle Crags Wedding

Charley & Ellie’s wedding at Gibson Mill

I loved being back at one of my favourite venues, Gibson Mill at Hardcastle Crags, for Charley & Ellie’s intimate wedding. Gibson Mill is nestled between beautiful woodland which is perfect for photos and I always look forward to the chance to photograph here.

Charley & Ellie chose to have a small wedding ceremony at Hardcastle Crags with their nearest & dearest. Afterwards, we headed for photos amongst all the trees and an outdoor drinks reception before heading back to the Mill for afternoon tea hosted by Laura Fox catering.

A perfect afternoon with the loveliest of folks, I hope you all had a wonderful evening and enjoy your photos Charley & Ellie!

Describe the proposal!: It was the first time we’d been out in lockdown, we went to sit by the quay for a picnic with the ducks and to read our books in the sun - but I (Charley) had other plans - then we celebrated on our balcony with fizz and macarons!

What is special about your venue?: It’s in Hebden Bridge where we first met, it’s in nature and eco-friendly which we love, especially Ellie whose favourite animals are all British wildlife (hedgehogs, foxes, badgers, birds).

Any details of note about your big day?: As nerdy and as lowkey as possible (think board games and jigsaw puzzles). Also very nature-y and like a little British woodland fairy-tale - we’ve been out collecting pine cones for the place names.

Venue: Gibson Mill, Hardcastle Crags

Bride's Outfit: Rolling in Roses (Ellie) / various high street (Charley)

Cake: M&S (giant Colin/Connie the Caterpillar!!)

Flowers: English Flower Farmer on Etsy

Catering: Laura Fox https://laurafoxcatering.co.uk/

Kind words from Charley & Ellie: Maddie was the first vendor we booked for our wedding - even before the venue and registrar. We loved her work and knew we’d want her wherever we ended up and we couldn’t be happier! We got married at Hardcastle Crags and both the indoor and outdoor photos are incredible. Maddie is so ridiculously talented and we feel very lucky to have been able to book her.

We booked Maddie for just a few hours (ceremony, group/couple shots, speeches) which she was really accommodating with. On the day, Maddie was so lovely and reassuring but also efficient when it came to organising the group photos and politely shooing onlookers away! She captured moments that no one else would have even noticed and those are definitely some of our favourite photos of the day .

Thank you so so much, Maddie. Not only are the photos beautiful but we also loved having you there as part of our wedding day.”
