Whitworth Locke Wedding
Same-sex wedding Manchester
Sam & Deb’s wedding was an incredible day from start to finish. Whitworth Locke have the most amazing pink rooms for prep photos which matched the florals perfectly. Sam & Deb’s ceremony took place at HOME Manchester, who host a small number of wedding ceremonies every year in their gorgeously light rooftop space. After a walk through the streets of Manchester, pride flags waving high, the party then continued back at Whitworth Locke. Sam & Deb’s did most of the incredible décor themselves – the room was packed full of disco balls, paper streamers and funky accessories. After some incredible food and very emotional speeches, we headed to Canal Street for a few photos where Sam & Debs were cheered on by folks drinking at the bars outside. When we returned, the party really kicked off with surprise appearances by some fabul0us Drag Queens which the guests all loved. An incredible day all round – thanks for having me there!

A few words from Sam & Debs:
How did you two meet?: On a dating app! Very millennial of us, just a year before we had both taken the plunge and moved somewhere new for a different life – Sam moved up from London and Debs from York – so we were both in a new city ready to start something new and feel very lucky to have found each other.
Describe the proposal!: Deborah proposed to Samantha in November 2021 at a beautiful reservoir called Watergrove, which has views across Manchester on a clear day. After screaming ‘ARE YOU SURE’ a few times, Sam said yes and they popped champagne while Arla ran rings around them both.
Not wanting to be outdone by Debs and her perfect proposal, Sam decided it was only right that Deb got that experience too (and got a sparkly diamond ring). So, a few months later, Sam arranged a date night in Manchester. Once the cocktails arrived, Deb turned around to find Sam with a ring box open, asking her back. That night they received a LOT of complimentary drinks!
What is special about your venue?: We toyed around with a number of different venues, but really wanted a modern city wedding. As two women getting married, both HOME and Whitworth Locke are very gay-friendly venues and have hosted a number of LGBT weddings before ours so we never had any awkwardness or issues with our venues! We LOVE the fact that Whitworth Locke has the glass conservatory style entrance which is very romantic but is perched at the end of Canal Street.
Any details of note about your big day?: We have made all the ceiling streamers you’ll see in HOME and Whitworth Locke, the backdrop was lovingly painted by Debs’ dad and bought second hand from someone else’s wedding last year.
Our theme is PINK PINK PINK! Our bridesmaids are wearing hot pink, our flowers are shades of pink and our décor is pink!
Sam is making the wedding cake and cupcakes, saving ourselves hundreds of pounds and the test bakes have been delicious so far!

A few kind words from Sam & Debs:
“Maddie was an absolute superstar both in the lead up to and on the day of our wedding. We booked in a pre-wedding photoshoot with our dog and she captured some really precious photographs of our little family. On the wedding day she was great at herding people along, helping us out when things went wrong (cars not showing up, getting me into my wedding dress.. the list goes on). She is worth every penny, the wedding photographs that we have are just exceptional and we love them.
We would recommend her in a heartbeat. Thanks for everything Maddie!”
