Hodsock Priory Wedding
Caitlin & Kelsea
Autumn is my favourite time of year so Caitlin & Kelsea’s incredibly cosy wedding was right up my street. The fire was roaring in the hall, the leaves were the perfect shade of orange (late Autumn is best for the leaves!) and the vibes all round were super wholesome. Everything from morning prep to ceremony, to the evening reception took place at Hodsock Priory which made for a stress free day. The bedrooms at Hodsock Priory are full of character with huge windows for lots of natural light even on a dark Autumn day. Although there was rain after the ceremony, it didn’t stop Caitlin & Kelsea from getting under a brolly and having a short walk round the grounds at Hodsock Priory for some atmospheric portraits.

A few words from Caitlin & Kelsea:
How did you two meet?: On a dating app… so unfortunately no romantic meet-cute…
Describe the proposal!: We were on holiday in Whitby with family. We both love Whitby and have visited it multiple times over our relationship to have chips and curry sauce in the harbour, and to go fossil hunting at Saltwick Bay. It’s quite a special place for us. Kelsea took me (Caitlin) on a picnic, which we had on the cliff top overlooking Saltwick Bay – it was quite windy and overcast that day (not exactly what Kelsea had envisioned…) After we had polished off the hummus and sausage rolls, Kelsea pretended that she wanted to take a picture with the tripod she had brought. After setting up the camera, Kelsea said she had a surprise, and when I turned around she was on one knee with a ring in her hand.
What is special about your venue?: Hodsock Priory is in Nottinghamshire, very close to Kelsea’s childhood home. When we went for a visit, Caitlin fell in love with the ‘Panelled Hall’ ceremony room for its historical ambiance, big fireplace and bookshelves. So it was a no-brainer!
Any details of note about your big day?: Our theme is autumnal, mixed with ‘Halloween chic’. Think pumpkins & autumn colours galore! Caitlin designed the Save the Dates & the wedding invites. Kelsea designed the table stationery (including the table plan, menu, table names & name cards). We have aimed to make our wedding as eco-friendly as possible by sourcing local vendors where we can, using glass bottles, vases and brass candle sticks that Caitlin and Kelsea’s mum have collected over the past year or so, and making sure nothing goes to waste – for example we want people to take a pumpkin away as a wedding favour and carve it on Halloween, or make something tasty from it!

A few kind words from Caitlin & Kelsea:
“Maddie is truly amazing at what she does & I feel like words cannot do justice to how fabulous she was at our wedding. From the moment she arrived she was in full wedding mode – dashing from room to room to capture the getting ready/reveal shots for me & my wife. Although I felt bit nervous/camera shy at first, Maddie quickly made me feel very comfortable & at ease. And when it started to rain, she quickly cracked out her waterproof coat and carried on! She is a trooper!
The photos we have received are more beautiful than I could have even imagined. If you are looking for a photographer for your wedding, you don’t need to look any further than Maddie!”
