Emily & Dan

East Riddlesden Hall Wedding

I felt so grateful to photograph Em & Dan’s beautiful wedding at on of my favourites East Riddlesden Hall last month.

Emily has kept in touch with me on insta whilst patiently waiting for her and Dan’s wedding, and when the day finally came round I instantly felt welcomed by their families and felt like I was amongst old friends.

I love photographing when the Autumn colours are out, and Emily’s beautiful flowers by Ewer Roberts complimented them perfectly!

Thanks again for having me Em & Dan, I had so much fun photographing your day and I loved all the ABBA tunes!

Describe the proposal!: It was during lockdown – so it was on the sofa in our house! We’d just bought our first home together 2 days before the first lockdown in March 2020, so it was a very happy place for it to happen. It was on my birthday which made it particularly special – and we spent most of the day on Zoom telling our friends and family! It was such a happy event in what was a truly weird time for everyone.

What is special about your venue?: We knew as soon as we saw it that it was perfect. We both love living in Yorkshire and showing it off to friends and family when they visit, and East Riddlesden Hall is a beautiful Yorkshire venue. We wanted a casual feel for the day so the barn is perfect. It’s also got a link to Haworth and the Brontes (Wuthering Heights was partially filmed there!) and Em is named after Emily Bronte so we’ve made our table numbers from pages out of Wuthering Heights.

Any details of note about your big day?: We’ve done all the decorations ourselves, with a lot of help from Etsy! But it’s been a family effort – Em’s Uncle made the crates and pallet signs and Em’s Mum has done the flower arrangements and we’ve got all the lanterns and bunting etc ourselves. The favours are hand made ceramic flowers in the Potteries which is where Dan’s family is from. We’ve gone for an autumnal theme because of the time of year, which we think is when East Riddlesden is at its most beautiful!
