Alexandra & Jordan’s wedding at Manchester Art Gallery and Hotel Gotham

A Gothic Black-Tie Wedding in Manchester City Centre

“Gothic meets classic black tie” is how I would describe Alexandra & Jordan’s Manchester Art Gallery wedding, set against the dramatic backdrop of Manchester city centre on a winter’s day. From the very beginning, the atmosphere felt moody, elegant, and perfectly suited to their vision.

Morning preparations took place at the stunning Hotel Gotham, where Jordan and his groomsmen had access to the rooftop bar for photographs, while Alexandra got ready in a beautifully dark and moody suite that matched the vibe of the day perfectly.

A Ceremony at Manchester Art Gallery

Their emotional ceremony took place just a couple of minutes’ walk away at Manchester Art Gallery. Filled with deeply personal vows and finished with a joyful dance back down the aisle, it was such a memorable moment. We then snuck away for ten minutes of photographs inside the gallery before heading back to Hotel Gotham to continue the celebrations.

Rooftop Cocktails and City Views

In the evening, everyone gathered back up on the rooftop bar for cocktails and dancing. As the sun began to set behind the Manchester skyline, I stole Alexandra & Jordan away for a few moody portraits. The perfect end to a beautifully atmospheric day.

A Few Words from Alexandra & Jordan

How did you two meet?

We met on a job — we’re both actors. Although we originally met at drama school (Jordan was in first year while I was in third), we didn’t actually speak to each other back then. Fast forward five years, we ended up doing a play together at the New Vic Theatre in Stoke, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Describe the proposal!

Jordan got down on one knee in front of a huge crowd at the Glastonbury sign in 2021. He pulled the ring box out from behind him… and then promptly dropped the ring. What felt like an eternity followed, although when we watched the video later (yes, he planned for my best friend to film it), it turned out it was only about thirty seconds before the ring was found — with some help — and he asked me to marry him.

What is special about your venue, Manchester Art Gallery?

It’s freaking cool! Getting married in an art gallery. We’d stayed at Hotel Gotham before for Jordan’s birthday in 2019 and absolutely loved it, so we were thrilled when we discovered they also host weddings.
