North Brewing Co Leeds Wedding

North Brewing Co Leeds Wedding

Jade & Phil’s wedding at The Tetley and North Brewing Co

It’s no secret that I absolutely love a brewery wedding, and the North Brewing Co in Leeds is the perfect venue for a relaxed wedding if you love street food and beer! Jade & Phil’s wedding started with the most relaxed morning at The Bells Leeds where the pair got ready together. Aside from me and Yasmin the hair and makeup stylist – there was no one else except for Jade & Phil at the apartment and it made for such a chilled morning. Once Jade & Phil were dressed, they had an emotional first look on the balcony before heading to their ceremony at The Tetley in the cutest vintage VW Beetle.
Celebrant True To You Celebrant officiated Jade & Phil’s fun-filled and personal ceremony before we headed over to North Brew Co for a proper good party with amazing street food and a surprise visit by Back Chat Brass who got everyone up for a dance!

A few words from Jade & Phil:

How did you two meet?: We met at work – both of us at the same live events agency in slightly different departments; Phil in the digital department, and Jade working in video. After meeting and chatting at a few work socials, lots of our colleagues noticed there might have been a spark between us and started questioning if ‘something was going on,’ which at first, there wasn’t and then when there was, we still tried to keep it a secret to stop too much gossip!

We decided at the last minute that Jade would try and join Phil and his friends at Glastonbury 2014, the year we met, and actually managed to pull off getting a ticket in the resale. We fell in love watching Kasabian on the main stage. After failing to get tickets for the past 5 years or so, we finally succeeded this year and will be heading down almost exactly one month before our wedding date.

Describe the proposal!: Well, it should have been perfectly romantic but it ended up not quite going to plan. Phil had been thinking of the best way to pop the question for a little while and had settled on it being on Jade’s 30th birthday. A romantic spa hotel in the Lake District… Jade would open all of her presents… Phil would say there’s one last surprise… close your eyes… open them and he’s on one knee with the ring.
The only issue was that her 30th was in January 2021, which was right in the middle of a pretty aggressive lockdown in the aftermath of the whole country meeting up on Christmas Day. Hotel = cancelled.
Despite everything, he was committed to this date. He’d been working up to it and waiting for the date to come around for so long that he decided he was doing it regardless, which is a bit ridiculous really because to add to all of that, Jade actually had covid!

What is special about your venue?: We have two, but both closely related by beer! We chose the venues because we have bonded over the years over a shared love of beer. We’ve been to many festivals, beer festivals and love a good pub together and with friends. The Tetley felt like a piece of brewing history and with it also now being a charity and art gallery, it fits with us well as creative people with creative jobs. We also love architecture and it’s a great example of 1930s Art Deco design.
We chose North Brewing Co for our reception venue after Phil booked a brewery tour there for Jade’s birthday – we absolutely fell in love with the space and knew we had to host our party here!

Any details of note about your big day?: Our wedding is completely DIY! We don’t really have a theme, although we are using dried hops on an archway at the ceremony, so we guess that follows the beer theme!
We aren’t sticking to any traditions, we are walking down the aisle together, no best men or bridesmaids. No official speeches or traditional first dance, although we are having a brass band which will probably be, by default, our first dance!

Hair & Makeup : Yasmin Schwitzer

Flowers: The Artisan Dried Flower Company

Catering: Little Bao Boy

Band/DJ: Back Chat Brass

Transport: All Love Dub

A few kind words from Jade & Phil:

“As soon as I discovered Maddie on Instagram I absolutely knew it had to be her! So much so, we didn’t even book the venue until we knew she was available first! I’m very camera shy but Maddie gave us subtle directions and made us feel at ease the entire day. She captured details of the wedding like an absolute magician, she’s incredibly creative with great vision and also happens to be a lovely person! I would recommend her in a heartbeat! Thank you Maddie, we love our photographs.”
