Geeky wedding in yorkshire
Sarah & David's day at the bridge hotel & spa, Wetherby
I absolutely loved being a part of Sarah & David's wedding day. Right from our initial meeting we clicked and I knew from then on their day would be full of fun and geeky delights.
I began the day with Sarah and her bridesmaids at The Bridge Hotel & Spa, Wetherby. Sarah has two sisters and it was so lovely to be a part of the excited atmosphere the morning of the wedding! I love taking my time during bridal prep as it means I get chance to meet the bridal party and photograph lots of gorgeous details such as Sarah's amazing purple Irregular Choice shoes and handmade paper flower bouquet!
Sarah and David's ceremony took place at The Bridge Hotel in Wetherby near Harrogate. It was such an emotional service and a joy to photograph - just look at their smiles! Afterwards we headed outside for a few group shots which ended up with us all in stitches, I love it when a wedding party wants some silly shots.
One of my favourite things about photographing Sarah & David's wedding was the huge amount of geeky and nerdy wedding details they had put into their wedding. Each table had a Lego centrepiece topped with different themed Pop Vinyls. The top table was Beauty and the Beast (complete with magical rose!) but there was also a Harry Potter table, a Game of Thrones table, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and more! They even had the cutest personalised Lego minifigure cake topper!
My second favourite thing about photographing this wedding was that you could plainly see how much Sarah & David adore each other, and how much fun themselves and their wedding party were having!
A few words from Sarah & David:
How did you meet?:
Neither of us are from Leeds but both went to University there, Dave had finished the year before and had stayed in Leeds and I was in third year. He and my housemate Rachel, one of my bridesmaids, worked together so he would sometimes come to our house. That is when we met.
Describe your proposal:
We had decided to to Windermere for the day and spent the day wandering around, eating yummy food and visiting the lovely shops. Towards the end of the day, we went and sat on a bench at the top of a small hill over looking the lake and sat chatting for a while. As we were about to leave, Dave turned to me, ring in hand and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes, but only after asking him if he was joking but using a few more swear words. I cried lots which was the worst things as it was one of those rare days I actually wear makeup! It's also later transpired that he had planned to get down on one knee but was too embarrassed due to a family sat the next bench along. They left just as he was asking so he decided after the excitement had died down ever so slightly to do it again, this time on one knee.
Highlight from the day:
Sarah - Finally becoming Mrs Norman. It had been a long process planning our wedding and it was good to finally have it all come together and the moment we said I do just made it all worthwhile.
David - Seeing everyone's smiles and hugging them all as they entered the ceremony room.
Favourite detail:
Sarah - The flowers, a lot of time went into making them and I was so happy with the finished product. (Actually had someone ask me to make hers for her wedding!!)
David - The lego centre pieces!
