The Portico Library Manchester Wedding
Emily & Tom’s library wedding & seven brothers brewery reception
Emily & Tom had their wedding ceremony at The Portico Library in Manchester which is an incredible venue for any book lovers! The Portico Library was founded back in 1806 and still remains open as a library today. The main room has the most beautiful domed roof and ceiling-high bookshelves which make it a very photogenic space! There is also a private reading room which we were lucky enough to use for a few photographs. It looks like something straight out of Harry Potter!
If you are looking for a small, quirky Manchester city centre wedding venue I would highly recommend The Portico Library.
Even though it rained (typical Manchester!) me, Emily & Tom managed to step outside for a couple of minutes for some photos before heading off to Seven Brothers Beer House in Ancoats for the evening reception.
I absolutely loved that Emily & Tom chose a bar venue for their wedding reception to compliment the relaxed atmosphere of the day. All the guests (and myself!) had a brilliant time. Some good food, excellent beers and everyone on the dance-floor meant for a fantastic evening.
Thanks again Emily & Tom, I loved photographing your wedding & being a part of your chilled-out day!

A few kind words from Emily & Tom: “Maddie took our wedding photos on a rainy Manchester day in January. She was really great on the day making sure that she got all of the shots we wanted. Despite the wedding venue not having much natural light at the time of our ceremony, the photos came out beautifully and the attention to detail was so lovely. She also made the best of the weather and got some shots of us in the rain - at the time we didn't think much of it, but they're now some of our favourite pictures of the day. It was so great to be able to just focus on the getting married part and not have to worry about what was going on with photos - Maddie made sure we did what we needed to and got some great candid shots too. The whole process from initial contact to getting our photos through has been so easy and Maddie is a really lovely person to work with. Above all, we really love our wedding photos and we're so happy we booked Maddie - we can't recommend her more.”

Library Wedding Venue
Are you considering planning your own wedding in a library? Here’s a little bit more about Emily & Tom and why they picked a library as their wedding venue!
”What is special about your venue?: We're both avid readers so the Portico Library is the perfect place for us to get married. We also both like a beer and wanted a more relaxed reception so Seven Brothers Beer house ticked all the boxes.
How did you two meet?: Emily's friend Amy (her 'best woman' at the wedding!) thought we would be a good match so swapped our phone numbers. We met for a drink at the Deaf Institute in August 2015 and it went from there!
Describe the proposal!: We went on holiday to Chania in Crete in April 2018. Tom planned to propose on the balcony of our apartment at breakfast but there were building works and Emily had dry shampoo in her hair. He instead got down on two knees (nerves!) and proposed in our apartment. We then spent the day at a vineyard.”
